Dear Bull-ievers,
My name is Reed and, as many of you know, I am one of the namesakes of Bella-Reed Pit Bull Rescue. My mom rescued me over 14 years ago, when I was just a little tyke. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to leave my paw print next to every step in my mom's journey. I have known nothing but unconditional love. She even says I'm the one who opened her eyes to the discrimination against pit bulls, which led to the opening of our rescue. So far, we have saved over three hundred pit bulls, seventy of which we have helped foster ourselves!
As I’ve gotten older, I have watched my mom become increasingly heartbroken after reading the stories of the homeless senior dogs being left behind at our local Philadelphia shelters. I think it's because she sees myself in every single one of them. She truly can’t imagine what it would be like if I were to become one of the many forgotten or abandoned. And, like so many other rescues, we want to help every one of these senior bulls. However, the amount of time senior dogs wait in foster care for their forever homes makes this task utterly impossible; not to mention the cost involved in providing us seniors with the proper veterinary care, like senior blood work, necessary surgeries, dental extractions, and medications. As a result, often times rescues like ours are only able to take in one senior dog at a time, leaving dozens of other senior bulls in similar situations with minimal sponsorship or promotion in finding their hap-bully ever after.
Unfortunately, senior dogs and pit bulls are often the most overlooked dogs in shelters, arguably making us elderbulls the most difficult dogs to be saved. And no dog deserves to die alone, scared, or unloved, especially the seniors, many of whom have been shown very little human kindness in their lives. For this reason, I have decided to launch my first campaign, “Saving ElderBulls.” I want to provide a single exclusive platform where all of the homeless elderbulls in Philadelphia and its surrounding areas can be promoted together. This will make it easier for potential adopters to find my fellow homeless friends and learn their stories. I hope to also promote the incomparable and undying love of senior dogs, while raising item donations to help with the care of more local elderbulls. I even got my sister, Bella, to jump on board! Don't tell anyone, but she received her AARP card in the mail last month, and now seems to have become much more understanding of my plight.
Help us show some love to my fellow senior bulls by supporting the Saving ElderBulls Campaign.
With many licks and wags,
McCready

In addition, a bed and toy can help a shelter dog relax or adapt better in foster care. Studies show that potential adopters are more likely to adopt a dog with a bed andtoy at a shelter, than a dog in a empty cage.
Beds/Items Needed Beds Wanted?
Tax-Deductible!
Rescues can apply for items!
Saving Elderbulls has set up an Amazon Wish List to provide orthopedic beds, cots, toys, coats, sweaters, ramps, steps, dental supplies, and joint supplements to senior pit bulls at rescues and shelters in the tri-state area. Concrete floors in shelters are very uncomfortable for senior dogs. These supplies can better help senior dogs get adopted! Older dogs have a hard time getting up from a cold, hard floor, making them less desirable to potential adopters.
